1. Salute Jetty – NSW, Australia
Located on Jetty Beach near Coffs Harbor in New South Wales, Salute Jetty is actually a satellite location of sorts for Salute Expresso.
Jetty Beach is a popular spot for NSW residents and Salute Jetty’s container coffee shop has become a popular attraction, with their coffee voted as Coff’s best coffee shop.
Salute Jetty doesn’t just serve coffee on the beach – many residents enjoy the acai bowls, raw puddings, and wraps.
The coffee shop was created using a 20-foot shipping container.
2. Liquid Planet – Missoula, MN
Liquid Planet started as an effort to create an evolution of the coffeehouse by a college professor.
Since then, Liquid Planet has become a premium mix of coffeehouse and beverages, dedicated to rising the culture of coffee.
Liquid Planet began plans for a new location at the entrance of the newly renovation Missoula International Airport and decided building with containers was the way to go.
Using two 40-foot ISO shipping containers, the new kiosk location further aligns with the coffee shop’s mission for sustainability.
Company owner Chad Morgan hopes that this won’t be the only Liquid Planet location that will be building using shipping containers.
3. Hummingbird Coffee – Christchurch, New Zealand
Re:Start was a rebuilding of the local shops and businesses that had been destroyed after the February 2011 earthquake.
The entire area was built using recycled shipping containers.
Sadly, Hummingbird Coffee closed its doors in 2016, while the mall itself permanently closed in 2018.
Hummingbird Coffee still operates its other locations in the city.
4. The Shack at Moorebank Sports Club – NSW, Australia
Another popular destination for NSW residents, The Shack is located within the Moorebank Sports Club, also known as the Sporties.
After a major facelift in 2010, the Sporties Club wanted to take advantage of the empty car park outside of the club’s facilities.
The Shack offers coffee and food for morning traffic going to and from the club, with outside seating using a 20-foot shipping container.
5. Chaiwalla & Co Container Café – Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Chaiwalla & Co Container Café has been a standard beverage provider in the city of Johor Bahru back when it was still just a main street kiosk.
Since then, the small business has grown to be a popular destination for visitors and residents alike.
Originally built using two 40-foot standard shipping containers, Chaiwalla & Co is the destination for the customizable drinks.
The original Thai milk tea is favorite, with the ability to top it off with a variety of choices.
Recently, the container café underwent an exterior facelift, that combines more greenery to compliment their unique container aesthetic.
