We prorate your rent by the day after the first 28-day billing cycle, so you don't have to pay for a full month when you only have your mobile containers and offices for a few days.

While other companies may be able to do small container modifications, most don't have an in-house fabrication staff or 90,000 sq ft fabrication facility like we do. As a result, they outsource the work on your custom container, so you don't know who's actually building it.

Rest assured knowing your modified shipping container will be built to the highest quality standards. Our certified weld and quality control inspectors check every step of the fabrication process to ensure everything is structurally sound and built to your specifications.

The Culver City high school varsity football team will get a rare opportunity to avenge a loss that took place on Sept. 2. Loyola edged the Centaurs 24- 19 in a game that came down to the wire. On Friday night on the Culver City high campus inside the Jerry Chabola Stadium at 7 p.m., it’s the Centaurs and the Cubs facing off in the CIF Division VI quarterfinal playoffs.

Both schools have strong athletic traditions and their football teams come into the game with identical 6-5 records. To reach the quarterfinal game Culver City beat El Dorado 35-24 and Loyola outlasted Lawndale 13-7.

Both teams played in very competitive leagues and both teams appear to be ready for the challenge. Culver City placed third in the Bay league behind Palos Verdes and Mira Costa and Loyola tied for first in the Angelus league with Cathedral and St. Francis.

“We are excited to get a second chance to play Loyola,” said Culver City head coach Jahmal Wright last Sunday during a telephone interview. “It’s going to be a very tough, hard fought playoff football game. We know each other very well. The schools are in proximity of each other and some of the kids grew up together.”

The teams are evenly matched so it should be another close game. “This is a game we really want to win,” said Wright. “We thought we let the first one slip away from us. We feel like we are a lot better team now than we were on Sept. 2. We are battle-tested, and we are excited to play them again.”

Wright continued to talk about the upcoming game against Loyola. “I think both teams are playing their best football right now. Loyola played in a tough league and now they have been able to get some players back that had been injured. I know they will be a formidable opponent. They are a well-coached team, and they have some very talented players. We have our work cut out for us, but I believe we will be up for the challenge.”

The Cubs are led on offense by their 6’4 quarterback, Xavier Rice who has thrown for 1,206 yards and nine touchdowns. The two running backs that they rely on is Jon Bautista who has rushed for 589 yards and Desi Valdes who has 442 yards on the ground.

Against El Dorado on the road last Friday night the Centaurs and the Golden Hawks played a game of give and take. It was a game of runs and momentum swings. The Golden Hawks scored first then the Centaurs scored to tie the game at seven. El Dorado converted a field goal and took a 10-7 half time lead. Culver City scored 20 points in the third quarter to take a 27 to 10 lead. “We played a very good second half,” said Wright. “We were able to run the ball and pass the ball.”

El Dorado fought back in the fourth quarter when they scored on a 75-yard play. After that play they executed a successful onside kick and they scored again to make the score 27-24 with less than three minutes to go in the game. They tried another on side kick and this time Culver City recovered. After that recovery Centaur quarterback Sammy Silvia hit receiver Myles Singleton over the middle or a touchdown with a minute left in the game and that made the score 33-24. A two-point conversion made the final score 35-24.

Culver City unleashed a very balanced offensive attack. They had 37 passing plays and 32 running plays. They gained a total of 542 yards, 380 passing and 162 yards rushing. Quarterback Silvia completed 26 passes for 380 yards and three touchdowns. He was able to connect with seven different receivers. Myles Singleton caught eight passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns. His brother, Braylon Singleton caught five passes for 94 yards and Mateo Torres was on the receiving end of five passes for 65 yards. Once again, the Centaurs outstanding run- ning back, Maurice Burgess ran for over 100 yards.

“Sammy played well,” said Wright. “He did an awesome job and Braylon made a lot of clutch catches and Mateo was our go to third down receiver.”

“Our defense has been stellar the whole season,” said Wright. “At the beginning of the game against El Dorado the offense was not able to move the ball consistently. That’s when our defense stood up and held their ground. They made a lot of tackles for losses. The defensive line and the linebackers did an excellent job.”

To beat Loyola on Friday everyone that steps on the field for the Centaurs must be ready to play in front of their home crowd. “I am excited about having a playoff game at Culver City high school,” said Wright. “We are excited to get our community out to support us. We are looking forward to seeing our student body, family, friends and alumni. We want to spread the word. Come out and support Culver City Centaur football. You could not write a better Hollywood script.”

Seasalt Fish & Grill offers affordable treats

“Who doesn’t love seafood?” asks the Seasalt Fish & Grill on their website biography. “We do. Fish, shellfish, crustaceans, and poke, we are fellow fans. “Who doesn’t love seafood?” asks the Seasalt Fish & Grill on their website biography. “We do. Fish, shellfish, crustaceans, and poke, we are fellow fans. The problem with seafood restaurants is the constant struggle between seafood freshness & quality vs. price. But why not both? Our goal is simple: Get the freshest seafood, prepare it the same day, and serve it fresh, delicious, and fast. That’s all there is to it.”

To be fair, that does sound incredibly simple. One would imagine that making fresh fish affordable in a coastal region can’t be crazy difficult, and yet so many establishments seem to struggle. Seasalt has found a way, and that’s part of what makes it such a wonderful part of the Culver dining landscape.

It’s only one part though; the location, on Washington, means that there’s plenty of parking surrounding it (even if you have to pay for some of it), and it’s in a bouncing, vibrant part of town.

The place looks fun too. Upon entering, you’re greeted by a wall of sauces and drinks, a glass screening allowing a look at some of the fish on offer, and a whole lot of chrome, glass, and light wood. It’s like an old school fish market has been cleaned to the point of immaculate. That collision of traditional and modern is fascinating.

The staff are super helpful, and can guide you through the choices on the menu. That’s awesome, because there are a lot of them. We went with the “Off the Grill” part of the menu, opting for mahi mahi over the likes of Atlantic salmon, white fish basa, barramundi, jumbo shrimp or, if you went to a fish restaurant but don’t like fish, steak asada (surf and turf is also an option).

The next thing you have to pick is your protein seasoning. We went with Louisiana Cajun, because the mahi mahi is a meaty white fish and it can take the spice without losing out on flavor.

Finally, you get to choose two sides. We went with sauteed zucchini and garlic brussel sprouts, to be healthy. But there are tempting alternatives available, including rice, slaw, parmesan garlic fries, and chips n salsa.

Regardless, we were very pleased with our choices. Though the zucchini paired with the sprouts did mean that there was a lot of green on the plate, the flavors still contrasted perfectly, the garlic from the brussels also making their way over to the zucchini.

Naturally, the fish was the exciting part and it didn’t disappoint. The flaky, strong meat and Cajun spices bounce around on the palate, the fresh veg sitting comfortably alongside.

It’s a treat of a meal, and only a small example of what this great place offers.

Seasalt Fish & Grill is located at 9901 Washington Blvd., Ste 101, Culver City. Call 424-361-5222 or visit seasaltfishgrill.com.

Approaching its centennial in 2024, the nationally landmarked flatiron-style Culver Hotel – built by the city’s founder Harry Culver – has seen its share of drunken munchkins and disrepair. The 46-room hotel was carefully restored in 2007 and opened a new bistro and garden this month. Lillie’s, named in homage to Culver’s wife Lillian, takes shape across three spaces within the property – the grand lobby, a romantic European-style dining room and an outdoor garden.

Ground zero of downtown Culver City, Lillie’s is a blend of French and Californian cuisine that includes an expansive raw bar program, classic and specialty cocktails and a focus on natural and biodynamic wines. For a sweet start to the evening, indulge in a Ruby Slipper from the bar: vodka, dry curaçao, market berry compote and Chambord. The martinis are perfectly shaken and chilled.

The menu mixes classics like steak tartare, French onion soup, poached shrimp and steamed mussels with saffron aioli and chicken dinner for two. In addition to a delightful butter lettuce salad with cucumbers, crème fraiche and olive dressing, Executive Culinary Director Ned Elliott and Executive Chef Diana Khngikyan have curated a friendly French menu that also includes a 12-oz veal au poivre, classic ratatouille and a wagyu Le Burger with cheese. Finish off the evening with a little bit of drama, the lime sherbet with mint with prosecco poured tableside.

The cozy dining room and bar are punctuated with a glowing fireplace and the return of live music and the outdoor garden is in the hub of downtown Culver City’s pedestrian district. The mezzanine Velvet Lounge speakeasy is open for private parties at the moment with plans to open to the public in the near future.

The Renaissance Revival style historic landmark was known as the “City’s First Skyscraper” and originally had 150 apartments. Owners over the years have included Charlie Chaplin and John Wayne (who eventually donated it to the YMCA) with guests like Joan Crawford, Clark Gable while he was filming Gone With The Wind and was home to drunk munchkins during the filming of The Wizard of Oz.

Lillie’s will be offering a $75 Thanksgiving prix fixe dinner with rosemary parker rolls and whipped cranberry butter, with a choice of kale salad or butternut squash soup. Main course selections include roasted turkey breast and thigh, New York strip loin or sweet potato gnocchi. Family-style sides include Brussels sprouts, roasted carrots and potato puree with gravy. The chef’s seasonal pie with vanilla ice cream is for dessert.

Veterans Day, a day to honor former military and active duty, is Friday, Nov. 11.

The holiday originated in 1919 as Armistice Day to mark the one-year anniversary of the end of World War I. The date of Nov. 11 is significant because fighting between Allied nations and Germany ceased on the 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month in 1918, according to the American Legion Auxiliary.

In 1954, U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower changed the name to Veterans Day. And not to be confused with Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all veterans — those who have served and are currently serving, along with those who have passed.

Don't forget your military ID or proof of service to redeem the eatery offers.

Due to a rainstorm, skies over Culver City should be pretty cloudy Tuesday during the height of eclipse activity when the moon takes on a reddish or coppery hue. If skies clear up in time to watch the eclipse, the blood moon lasts from about 2:17 a.m. to 3:42 a.m. PST.

But if you want to see it from start to finish, here are the times you need to keep in mind:

Lunar eclipses only happen during a full moon, when the moon is opposite the sun in its orbit of Earth. In a full moon, the sun fully illuminates the face of the moon. During a total lunar eclipse, the sun, Earth and moon are aligned, so the moon goes into Earth’s shadow. When that happens, the moon earns its “blood moon” nickname.

November’s full moon is also known as the beaver moon, because it’s the time of year beavers, having spent the early fall busily storing food for the winter, settle into their winter homes, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Just watching the moon rise big and bright over the horizon is worth a trip outdoors. Moonrise Monday is at 5:09 p.m. PST.

Culver City city dwellers surrounded by lights might still get a decent look at the eclipse as it progresses, but dark skies offer the most spectacular views.

Total lunar eclipses have been seen in myth and legend as an omen, and the coincidence of an Election Day blood moon has led to much speculation on social media about what it means.

An Election Day lunar eclipse won’t happen again until Nov. 8, 2394, according to EarthSky.

Blood moon” is a descriptive rather than technical astronomical term, though The Old Farmer’s Almanac says the phrase is “hyped” and that a fully eclipsed moon is orange, or copper-colored like a penny, but not blood red. The moon’s color at totality can also vary depending upon the amount of dust, volcanic ash or other particulate matter in the atmosphere, and because of cloud cover, according to Space.com.
