The first, located on a corner lot at 6501 S. Crenshaw Boulevard, is being built by Hope Street Development Group - a joint venture by HBG Construction Corp. and Aedis Real Estate Group. Hope on Hyde Park, a $40-million development comprised of prefabricated modular units, will feature 96 studio and one-bedroom apartments reserved for formerly unhoused individuals when complete
KTGY the five-story building, which will also include on-site social services and a central courtyard for residents.
At the time of its groundbreaking, completion of Hope on Hyde Park was expected in the second quarter of 2022.

Just south, the exterior of the Depot at Hyde Park has been unwrapped at 6527-6549 S. Crenshaw Boulevard.
The project, from co-developers GTM Holdings and WORKS, is a five-story building which will feature 43 residential units above 1,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 22-car parking garage. Plans also call for on-site supportive services and open space for residents.
Lahmon Architects is designing the apartment complex, which will cater survivors of domestic violence.
The $28.9-million project was also previously expected to open in 2022.
Urbanize LA
The Hope Street and Depot developments aren't the only new supportive housing on the rise in Hyde Park. A few blocks west on West Boulevard, A Community of Friends broke ground in May on a similar 64-unit housing complex which is also on track to make its debut in 2022.
Market-rate developments are also taking shape nearby - including a 24-unit building now rising between the Depot and Hope projects at 6515 Crenshaw Boulevard.

Metro on Saturday joined Metro Board First Chair Jacquelyn Dupont-Walker, L.A. City Council Member Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Metro CEO Stephanie N. Wiggins and Crenshaw community leaders, supporters and residents to dedicate the new Hyde Park K Line Station in South Los Angeles. The K Line, also referred to as the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, is officially expected to open later this year, bringing new rail service to one of the city’s oldest communities.

The Hyde Park Station is located between the intersections of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue and 59th Street in the Hyde Park community. The station serves one of the most densely populated areas along the Crenshaw Corridor and Los Angeles, giving residents and others a new transportation option to the automobile.
The Hyde Park station is surrounded by several historic neighborhoods such as Leimert Park, Vermont Square, Manchester Square and Inglewood. The station is only a short walk from Crenshaw High School and several local mom-and-pop businesses.
Several housing developments by private developers are now underway in the area that will also benefit from the new station.
Metro is also supporting improved safety for pedestrians to access the new station. With funding through Metro’s transit-oriented development planning grant, the City of Los Angeles has completed a Crenshaw Boulevard Streetscape Plan that will enhance safety by improving the walking environment through the installation of wider sidewalks and crosswalks and curb extensions and median refuge islands, making it easier for Metro riders to access the Hyde Park station, whether they are walking, riding a bike, scooter or skateboard as part of their trip.
Hyde Park is one of eight new stations to the 8.5-mile K Line. Additional stations are: Expo/Crenshaw, Martin Luther King Jr., Leimert Park, Fairview Heights, Downtown Inglewood, Westchester/Veterans and Aviation/Century.
The $2-billion K Line will open with seven stations later this year. The Aviation/Century station is projected to open in Fall 2023. The Airport Metro Connector Project, which will provide a connection to Los Angeles International Airport, is scheduled to open in late 2024. The line will connect the existing Metro E Line (Expo) at Crenshaw and Exposition Boulevards to the C Line (Green) in El Segundo, providing a key transit alternative to driving the increasingly congested 10, 405 and 105 freeways.
Metro’s station dedication ceremony also celebrated the importance of the station, its art and nearby historic neighborhoods. Public officials recognized and featured early project champions, small businesses, local performing artists and the Hyde Park station commemorative pin contest winner, high school student Allysa Enriquez.
All K Line stations include artwork commissioned through the agency’s Metro Art program. Artists were selected through an open, competitive selection process following the recommendation of a panel of community-based arts professionals. The Hyde Park Station includes a series of porcelain enamel artworks by Carlson Hatton, titled Hyde Park Oasis.

If Springsteen ever had the number on which to phone in a performance, it clearly became sweat-soaked and unreadable decades ago. At 73 he’s now putting rockers a third of his age to shame, hitting the stage with a No Surrender that sounded like a statement of intent and blazing through enough chrome-wheeled glory rock to give organisers itchy plug fingers. Again. At his last Hyde Park gig in 2012 the sound was cut when his duet with Paul McCartney ran over curfew, as Bruce reminded his fortune teller of a guitar foil “Little” Steven Van Zandt as Glory Days reached its umpteenth euphoric peak. “F*** ‘em,” Van Zandt sagely advised, and kept right on rocking.
Springsteen had, after all, a whole rock’n’roll lifetime to cover. Once the poster boy of small-town rebellion, he has built a rich canon that virtually represents the great American novel in song form over 50 years. All aspects of the noble blue-collar life were here: the hungry teenage runaways (Born to Run), the machine shop dreamers (The Promised Land), the struggling family men (The River), the disillusioned Vietnam vets (Born in the USA), the barstool nostalgists (Glory Days) and the old-age romantics full of fear and doubt (Letter to You).
A country ballad section culminated in a forlorn Last Man Standing, written – Springsteen explained, holding back tears – following the death of George Theiss, who had been the only other surviving member of his first teenage band The Castiles. “At 15, it’s all hellos, and a lot later on there a lot more hard goodbyes,” he said, pressing home the song’s message, “how important it is to seize the day.”

Everywhere they’ve been this year, Blackpink have made history. After becoming the first K- pop act to headline Coachella back in April, the four-piece also became the first band in the genre to top the bill at a British festival on Sunday night in Hyde Park.
Though K-pop’s sales and popularity in the UK and US haven’t been in doubt for a long time, it’s only with Blackpink’s summer so far that the genre’s full integration into the mainstream western music industry, especially in its festival line-ups, can no longer be questioned.
If such landmarks could feel intimidating for a young band carrying a scene’s hopes abroad on their shoulders, Blackpink didn’t let it show one jot and took up their crown gladly. From the second they rose up from underground to roar through the raucous Pink Venom, they looked at complete ease, sailing through elaborate and intricate choreographed dances and trading verses of sweetly sung melodies and barbed rapping.
Though the set was likely the shortest of any BST Hyde Park headliners this summer – around 80 minutes, with the band actually on stage for just over an hour given lengthy interludes – the maximalism and sheer energy of every second they did spend in front of the crowd made it hard to feel short changed.
A show of three acts, the first part lasted just 20 minutes but featured fireworks, rapping, crunchy guitars and bubblegum pop smashed all together with glee and abandon. These changes in pace were almost whiplash-like, but never less than thrilling – it was a show that didn’t stand still for a second.
For the second part of the show, each member came out in turn for a solo number or two, lighting the path towards what will undoubtedly be long and fruitful solo careers for all four.
First up was Jennie, whose future looks to be in radio-ready pop as showcased on You & Me. Jisoo then performed the Noughties-flavoured Flower, before Rosé showcased a more melancholic and introspective edge on Down, a welcome dose of minimalism in a show packed with noise and colour.
