Cervantes said she enjoys being outside and gets her exercise by doing daily walks.
"I don't do well in the gyms. I would rather be outside and walk because it doesn't seem like exercise to me, it's just a regular thing," said Cervantes.
The Mayor of Santa Clarita, Jason Gibbs, said when gyms were closed during the pandemic, more people were forced outside and he believes that's why community members are asking for more outdoor exercise spaces.
"It's one of those weird positives that came from a very tough time. They re-introduced people to something that's always been a part of Santa Clarita, which is our open spaces and outside areas," said Mayor Jason Gibbs.
The City of Santa Clarita used COVID-19 relief funds to add the stairs and make some other improvements to the park and residents seem to be taking advantage of the upgrades.
"It is invigorating to go up there. When you get to the top, there's a wonderful view of the city and coming down a lot easier so it's rewarding," said Roy Relles, Santa Clarita.

"I like that there's a lot of people because it motivates me. If they can do it, I can too," said Cervantes.

A group of serial burglars remains at large after eight businesses were smashed into throughout the Santa Clarita Valley early Wednesday morning.
The burglary spree took place within a two-hour span, with security cameras capturing the destructive break-ins. One video shows a masked suspect smashing the glass front door of Robek’s Fresh Juices & Smoothies on The Old Road in Valencia.
Meanwhile, three or four other suspects are targeting the neighboring businesses in the Westridge Village Shopping Center including a Starbucks, Panda Express and Sport Clips.
Deputies believe the burglars are the same ones who drove about seven miles from the Westridge center to another plaza on Soledad Canyon Road where four other businesses were also burglarized.
Those shops included Little Caesars Pizza, See’s Candies, Carriage Trade Cleaners and Bonsai Garden Sushi.
“About four to five guys in hoodies, they came in and they went to the register,” said Lily Tanner, the area manager of Sports Clips. “It was a group of them, in and out very fast.”
Tanner said this is the first time they’ve been burglarized since the salon opened 15 years ago.
Police said the thieves got away with less than $500 in cash as most of the stores did not carry any money in the registers.
“They definitely tried to take the registers,” said Richard Gonzalez, the manager of Robeks. “But they were all empty so I don’t know what they’re trying to go for but they didn’t really get out with anything.”
Residents in the area were a bit shaken by the break-ins taking place in an otherwise safe neighborhood.
“Even though Santa Clarita is pretty big, it still feels like a smaller community and a safe community,” said Kelly Mehr, a local resident. “But when you see this, that’s very upsetting.”
Despite the suspects appearing masked and covered, deputies said they have a very clear description of the two getaway vehicles involved. Anyone with information can call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-260-4000.

Firefighters are battling multiple brush fires that broke out miles from one another in the Santa Clarita Valley amid triple-digit temperatures Tuesday.
A brush fire near the edge of the Angeles National Forest swelled from 4 acres to 100 acres in less than two hours Tuesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
County firefighters were assisting crews from the Angeles National Forest in fighting the Agua fire, which was reported at 2:12 p.m. near Soledad Canyon and Agua Dulce Canyon roads in Santa Clarita. Shortly after 4 p.m., about 200 firefighters from the two agencies were battling the blaze, according to the L.A. County Fire Department.
“Units on scene are making good progress slowing down the fire with ground crews and multiple water-dropping aircrafts,” the department said.
Ten firetrucks, three crews and several aircraft had been dispatched, said Celeste Morales, a spokesperson for Angeles National Forest. The fire was 0% contained Tuesday evening, and the blaze had the potential to grow more, Morales said.
No structural damage had been reported; one firefighter suffered an unspecified minor injury and was taken to a hospital, according to the Fire Department.

It is unknown what started the fire, which remains under investigation, Morales said.
About eight miles away, a second fire that ignited Tuesday afternoon put a stop to incoming trains on Metrolink tracks near Sierra Highway and Jakes Way in Canyon Country, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The department was dispatched at 1:36 p.m. and arrived shortly after, stopping the spread of the 1-acre fire by 2:12 p.m. The tracks were shut down while firefighters worked to put out the fire, which started with a tree before spreading to bristle brush near the tracks.
No injuries were reported, nor were any structures damaged. It is unknown whether rail services have resumed, according to a spokesperson for the department.
While firefighters battled the Agua fire, flames ignited about 13 miles away near North Sierra Highway and Needham Ranch. The Victor fire had injured one person and grown to about 60 acres by 7 p.m., with 10% containment.
L.A. County firefighters were dispatched at 3:25 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the department.
About 150 firefighters were working to contain the brush fire during the peak response, though some units had been released by Tuesday evening. The Los Angeles Fire Department was assisting with the blaze.
At about 5 p.m., the blaze was burning amid temperatures in the mid-90s and winds of 8 miles per hour with gusts up to 18 mph and a relative humidity of 28% to 33%, according to the National Weather Service.
Earlier in the afternoon, L.A. County fire crews were called to the scene of a small blaze that had started in the brush along the 5 Freeway in Santa Clarita after a police pursuit ended in a crash.
The pursuit started near Bakersfield and made its way south into Los Angeles County, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Alec Pereyda. Details are unclear, but the pursuit ended when the suspect crashed on the shoulder of the 5 near Lyons Avenue in Santa Clarita.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 12:45 p.m. and stopped the spread of the fire after it had burned about a quarter of an acre.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- Firefighters were battling two fires that were spreading quickly through brush amid triple-digit conditions in the Santa Clarita area Tuesday.
The Agua Fire erupted in the Angeles National Forest and quickly spread to at least 60 acres Tuesday afternoon.
Flames from the Agua Fire chewed through vegetation while threatening a trailer park in the area and forcing the closure of nearby Metrolink tracks. At least one truck at an outdoor facility was seen engulfed in flames.
Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.
"These record temperatures are definitely accelerating the process as far as curing what we have as far as dry brush," said Craig Little with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The fire was first reported around 2 p.m. in the area of Soledad Canyon and Agua Dulce Canyon roads. As it burned through medium-to-heavy brush firefighters initially estimated it had grown to 100 acres but later downgraded the figure to 60. Containment was estimated at 10% by early evening.
Fire crews were battling the flames in triple-digit temperatures that prompted a heat advisory for the area. Less than two hours later, a second brush fire broke out in the Santa Clarita Valley area.
The Victor Fire was reported around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Sierra Highway and Needham Ranch, roughly 15 miles away from the Agua Fire.
"We had a few things that were running in our favor with this fire," explained Little. "Number one, there was a ridge that pretty much held the fire in check. In addition to that, we had winds that were going against the fire, which also helped us."
AIR7 HD was above the scene just before 4:30 p.m. as flames burned close to the DrinkPAK campus off Needham Ranch Parkway.
People were seen standing outside the canned beverage manufacturer's facility, though it is unclear if employees were asked to evacuate.
The possibility of flames spreading to the building appeared low due to visible brush clearance surrounding the facility. By 5 p.m. the Victor Fire was estimated at 50 acres and was 20% contained by the evening.
"We're trying to get a handle on these fires as early as possible and hit it with as many available resources as we can before they can get out of hand," said Little.
