Rent Residential Containers

We get how stressful moving and home renovations can be.

When you rent storage containers from us, it makes your move less stressful because you’re not as rushed when you rent by the month. Plus, our monthly rental is usually less than the typical 3 to 5-day cost to rent a moving truck. We also move your loaded shipping container to your new location for you, so you don’t have to make multiple trips, saving you money and stress.

Whether you’re moving, storing or both, we’ve got your back.

FRequently asked questions

We prorate after the first 28-day billing cycle, starting the day after you request pick up.

Yes, we disclose all fees up front. We will only charge you after your rental term for major damage and will be sure to discuss it with you beforehand.

Yes, we do require that the storage containers or portable offices be insured. Southwest Mobile Storage offers a Damage Liability Waiver (DLW) which costs 12% of the 28 Day Billing Rate. The DLW covers damages (except for graffiti) to the storage containers and portable offices. The DLW does not cover loss or damage to your contents. The DLW is mandatory unless you can provide your own insurance.

We don’t offer containers with constant climate control; however, we can provide spray foam insulated units with thermostat control up to 10 degrees of the outside temperature. These use a HVAC unit that you just have to plug in to a power source or extension cord. These units were designed specifically for restoration companies because we know your clients need extra protection for their items.

No, all of our portable offices are ground-mounted.

Due to Department of Transportation weight restrictions and safety reasons, we cannot move loaded 40 ft containers. By industry standards, only 20 ft or smaller containers can be moved loaded.

We won’t move containers that have illegal substances, animals, humans, paint, or flammables inside.

As long as you have detailed where you want the container placed, you don’t have to be there while we deliver it.

No, we do not rent out units with plumbing but do for purchases with our modified portable offices.

PODS and Coolbox don’t use ISO shipping containers for storage or moving, so their units are not as strong and secure as our corrugated steel containers, which have one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any construction material. Additionally, companies like them focus on residential customers and storing at their location, leading to higher prices and more inconvenience.

When you rent a shipping container, you have the flexibility to keep it at your business location or ours, along with more sizes to choose from, higher security and more space for a lot less cost. With a public storage unit, you have less choice, space and security and it’ll cost considerably more. Shop and compare to see for yourself.

Yes. You can add spray foam insulation to 20 and 40 ft storage containers. All of our mobile offices come with insulation and HVAC units already installed. You just need to plug it in to your generator.

Yes, you can alter our rental containers and portable offices, but any alterations must be undone and unit in original good condition upon return. You can also choose add-ons, accessories and utilities for your rented containers and offices from our list of rental options.

You need to be there when we pick up the loaded container to unlock it. We need to verify that there are no prohibited items inside it and ensure everything is packed tightly enough to not slide during transit.

Secure it with mattresses, plywood, or rope to make sure that things don't shift when being loaded on and off the moving truck.

Yes, we do a rough level to ensure the doors can open and close correctly.
